The
delightful open-air garden suite is a refreshing retreat from
a busy day of sight-seeing. The jalousy windows invite the
tradewinds through the unit. Wake up to the sound of the
doves and the wind in the palm trees. Just outside the suite
door way is a little turtle bubbling fountainin an old
barrel.
If you come in May or June our Shower trees
cover the parking and garden area in white flower petals. If
you come in July or August the Royal Poinciana red flowers
bloom matching our ohai hedge out front. If you are a
botanical photographer/artist there is always flowers to
photograph or paint.. Our trees are like giant bouquets. The
variegated hibiscus hedge along the driveway provides a daily
display of color.
Over the futon couch is a watercolor showing
the knowing look of Hawaiian monk seals.Like the
seals you will want to enjoy the ocean water. The beach
access closest to Sheffield Houseis on Kaapuni Road. It has a
great boogie board spot. The sparkling water is perfect and
the waves offer endless entertainment for young and the young
at heart..
The garden suite has a kitchenette and a
fold-out sofa, and can sleep four. The kitchenette in the
Garden Suite has a blender, two burner hot plate, half size
refrigerator, electric frying pan, dishes, utensils and
everything you might need to prepare food. The shower in the
bathroom is large and the tile is the color of the ocean. It
has it's own private little garden area. Perfect for hanging
your swim suit..
Sit in the garden area and check your
internet (if you must) as there is wifi. Or bring a good book
prop your feet up and chill. Need a good book. There is
probably a mystery, a magazine or a copy of Michener's book
on Hawaii on the shelf in the room. The quilts in the Garden suite are
Hawaiian applique with motifs of pineapple, kukui or lauae
fern.
The Garden Suite combined with the Guestroom
make a two bedroom two bath unit.
There is free parking and no waiting for an
elevator. There is no circling around and around in a parking
garage. One guest told us that staying at the Hawaii
Sheffield House was a perfect base for seeing all of the
beaches on Oahu. After touring all around they wished that
they had spent more time at Kailua Beach because it was their
favorite.
Kickback in the garden area and use the
outdoor charcoal grill.
Visit the local market for fresh
fish.
